Every wedding is different, and that’s exactly how it should be.
I won’t keep pulling you away from your guests or let the photographs take over the timetable. I’ll give you a bit of direction when you need it, help keep things moving when required, and spend the rest of the day quietly looking for all the moments that make your wedding yours.
The nerves in the morning, the laughs with your pals, proud parents, the wee looks between the two of you. I’m watching the whole room, because some of the best photographs come from what your family and pals are doing while you are busy somewhere else.
Of course we’ll make time for the family photos and some relaxed photographs of the two of you, but the most important thing is that you actually get to enjoy your wedding day.
From the preparations right through to the speeches, first dance and madness on the dance floor, I’m there to capture the whole story as it really happened. As an Aberdeenshire wedding photographer, I photograph weddings across Aberdeen, Aberdeenshire and beyond in a relaxed, natural way.

THE PREPARATIONS
Wedding mornings are always busy, and that’s all part of it. I just document the preparations as they happen, the hair and make-up getting done and all the laughs and energy around the room. Nothing needs staged or repeated. It’s a proper record of how the day began, and the first part of your wedding story. You can get ready, have a laugh with everyone around you and enjoy that build-up while I quietly capture what’s happening.

THE CEREMONY
When the ceremony starts, my job is really simple, stay out of the way and let you experience it properly.
I’ll work quietly around the room and capture things as they happen, without interrupting anything or making you think about the camera. You should be focused on getting married, not wondering where I am or what you’re meant to be doing.
Every ceremony has its own feel. Some are emotional, some are full of laughs, some are short and simple, and some are completely unpredictable. I’m there to photograph it honestly and make sure you come away with a proper record of that part of the day.

THE CELEBRATIONS
After the ceremony, things usually loosen up pretty quickly.
This is when I’ll get the important family photographs done, but I keep them organised and moving so they don’t take over your afternoon. Once they’re out of the way, I can get back to photographing the day as it naturally happens.

THE PORTRAITS
Couple photographs shouldn’t mean disappearing from your wedding for hours.
We’ll usually head out for a relaxed wander somewhere around the venue, give you both a wee bit of breathing space and make some brilliant photographs without it ever feeling overly posed.
I’ll guide you when you need it, but mostly I want you to forget about the camera and just enjoy having a bit of time together.

THE PARTY
By this point, most people have completely forgotten I’m there, which is exactly what I want.
I’ll stick around into the evening and photograph things as they get a bit louder and a lot less organised. This part of the day is always unpredictable, and that’s usually why the photographs are so good.

That’s what I’m all about.

By the time your wedding comes around, I want you to feel like you’ve got someone there who genuinely has your back.
I’ll be your cheerleader when you need one, the person helping keep things moving, the one carrying the flowers for five minutes, fixing a buttonhole, calming the nerves or simply giving you a bit of reassurance when the day suddenly feels like a lot. Your only job on your wedding day is to enjoy it and soak it all in.
Weddings can be busy, emotional and occasionally a bit chaotic. I’ve been around enough of them to know when to step in, when to help and when you just need someone beside you saying, “Don’t worry, we’ve got this.”
That matters to me just as much as the photographs. I don’t want to feel like someone you hired who happened to turn up with a camera. I want you to trust me, enjoy having me there and know that if you need anything throughout the day, I’m on your side.
