A wee bit about me
I’m Aberdeenshire born and bred, and I genuinely love living and working in this part of Scotland. I’m a family man first, so when I’m not working I’m normally spending time with my own family, getting outdoors or taking the dog for a walk.
Being a parent myself, I know just how quickly the kids grow up. It’s easy to think there will always be another chance to take photographs, then suddenly you look back and realise how much has changed. That’s why I think it’s important to make the most of the time you have together and have proper photographs with everyone included, especially the person who is normally behind the phone.
Most of all, I love handing people photographs they’ll still be looking at in 20 years. I want them to end up on the walls of your home and become more valuable to you as the years pass. That is the part of photography that means the most to me.
THE STORY SO FAR
My journey
2007
MY FIRST ‘PROPER’ CAMERA
On a lads’ holiday in the south of France, a pal turned up with a proper camera and let me have a play. I was immediately obsessed, and bought it off him the moment we got home. My photography journey begins here.
2017
EASTSIDE PHOTOGRAPHY IS BORN
In November 2017 I started Eastside Photography as a wee side hustle alongside my job in the oil industry. Deep down, I already knew this was my real passion.
2022
GOING FULL TIME
In May 2022 I left my other job and put my all into Eastside Photography. It’s the best adventure, and I’ve got the greatest job in the world.
2026
THE STORY KEEPS GROWING
Four years on, Eastside has taken me to brilliant places and introduced me to even better people. One day I’m photographing a wedding, the next I’m out in the woods with a family and their dog. I still love taking the photographs, but seeing what they mean to people when I hand them over is the part that sticks with me. It’s a privilege to do this for a living, and I’m nowhere near finished yet.

That quote gave me the push to make the jump into self-employment. I knew I’d always wonder “what if?” if I never gave it a proper go. So, strangely enough, I’ve got David Brent to thank for that.
